The city of Greensboro, North Carolina is located in the north-central part of the state near I-40 and I-85. The haunted underpass is located on U.S. Highway 70 near Jamestown between Greensboro and High Point.
This story is another of the familiar stories of the “lady in the white dress” stories who seeks a ride along a highway. In this version, the lovely young lady is said to have been appearing here since 1923. She reportedly stands next to the underpass, clad in an elegant white evening gown frantically waving down passing cars.
Those who have actually stopped to pick her up report meeting a pleasant young lady named Lydia who has just been to a dance in Raleigh and wants to go home. She gives an address in High Point and once they arrive, she vanishes. Several have inquired about her at the address and have been told that the lovey young Lydia was killed in a car crash years ago at the U.S. Highway 70 underpass.
